Not Your Grandma’s Diamonds

What are lab grown diamonds?

Back when your grandparents were getting engaged, your grandma may not have received a diamond engagement ring to seal the deal. But, if she did (and did not live in the lap of luxury), it was most likely comprised of a modest, cloudy-looking rock that cost your grandfather a fortune.

The world has changed over the last two generations and so have the diamonds within it. Thanks to lab-grown diamonds, you no longer need to sacrifice quality for size. Now you can afford beautiful, brilliant diamonds that you feel proud about buying and wearing.

What are lab-grown diamonds?

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. Period. While diamond simulants, like cubic zirconia and moissanite, are made to look like diamonds, they have a completely different chemical structure. Lab-grown diamonds, on the other hand, are pure crystallized carbon and are formed through the same process as mined diamonds. The result is a gemstone that has the same optical, chemical, and physical properties of any mined diamond. Lab-grown diamonds are so similar, in fact, that even trained professionals cannot tell the difference without the help of highly-advanced detection equipment.

So, the difference between mined and lab-grown diamonds is merely the ethical setting in which lab-grown diamonds are created. Because unlike mined diamonds, lab-grown diamonds do not carry the same environmental or human costs.

Technology has improved our lives, so why not let it improve our diamonds as well?

We’ve traded in so many of the items that our grandparents couldn’t have lived without. We talk on cell phones instead of home phones, send emails instead of waiting for letters, use GPS devices instead of trying to plan our routes with physical maps. Technology has advanced our lives, and it’s time that we let it advance our diamonds, too.

At New World Diamonds, we know that lab-grown diamonds are the future. So, say goodbye to your grandma’s diamonds and check out our collection!
